Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his trip to Moscow, highlighting Modi’s absence from violence-hit Manipur, contrasting it with Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing visit to the northeastern states.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Silchar, Assam, earlier today and is slated to visit a relief camp at Fulertal before proceeding to Manipur to inspect relief camps at three locations. He is also scheduled to meet with the Governor of Manipur later in the evening.

Ramesh pointedly remarked that while the “non-biological” Prime Minister was in Moscow, Rahul Gandhi was engaged in visiting Assam and Manipur. He derided claims suggesting that Modi had temporarily halted the Russia-Ukraine war.

Criticizing Modi for not visiting Manipur even after 14 months of violence that began on May 3, 2023, Ramesh noted the Prime Minister’s apparent lack of time or interest in the state. Modi has not met with the Chief Minister or other political leaders, including MLAs and MPs, amidst the ongoing crisis.

Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Moscow earlier today, following an invitation from the Russian President for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit.
