Police have arrested three youths for forcing a 15-year-old Dalit boy to drink urine. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the boy was returning home from work in Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti.
The victim, who works as a technician setting up sound mixers and audio systems at events, was accosted by Kishan Tiwari, Dilip Mishra, and Satyam Tiwari, who were reportedly drunk, reported NDTV.
According to the police, Dilip Mishra urinated in a liquor bottle while Satyam and Kishan held the boy down and forced him to drink from the bottle.
“The accused also misbehaved with the minor and thrashed him, and one of them shot a video of the entire incident,” said Gilaula police station’s Station House Officer Mahima Nath Upadhyay.
The altercation stemmed from a disagreement over charges for an audio system the boy’s family had installed for a function at the accused’s house. The accused were reportedly upset about being charged extra.
The victim reached home and informed his elder brother about the ordeal. The next day, his family lodged a police complaint.
Police conducted a preliminary investigation and arrested the accused on Thursday based on eyewitness accounts and a video circulating on social media.
According to police sources, the accused claimed the victim and his family ran a DJ service in the village and charged a hefty amount. During a recent function, the victim had stopped the DJ, citing a lack of fuel in the generator, which had further fueled the animosity between them.
