The body of 28-year-old Aamir Khan, a Muslim auto driver, was discovered in a field in Lakhuwas village, Sohna district, Haryana. Aamir had gone missing a couple of days earlier, and his body was found on Monday. Family members have raised allegations of foul play, citing multiple injury marks on his body.
The discovery was made by local villagers, who alerted the police. Aamir’s body was wrapped in a bedsheet, a short distance away from his damaged auto. A preliminary examination revealed a multitude of injuries on his body, particularly his head, leading to suspicions that he had been beaten to death.
The victim’s sister, Shahruna, expressed her anguish, asserting that Aamir had likely met his untimely demise on the night of his disappearance.
“I was searching for my brother, and during my visit to a nearby hospital, I discovered his body had arrived there recently. Upon seeing his remains, I observed numerous marks of injury on his head from various angles, indicating severe physical abuse. His facial features were also distorted. I am unaware of the specific objects that were used to inflict the injuries,” she told local media.
Demanding justice for Aamir’s tragic fate, Shahruna implored the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and hold the culprits accountable.
“The fate my brother suffered must not be endured by others. I implore the authorities to ensure justice for our family,” she said.
The incident has stirred up strong emotions within the community, particularly amidst recent communal tensions that have rocked the region. The first week of August saw communal violence, with Muslims, their properties, and religious places being targeted by Hindutva mobs. This latest incident has added to the unease, given the backdrop of sporadic attacks reported even this week.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the case by registering it as a murder at the Sohna city police station. Despite the severity of the circumstances and the growing demand for justice, no arrests have been made as of now. With concerns escalating regarding the safety of minority communities, residents are calling for swift and transparent action to address the situation.
