A Muslim youngster was abducted and beaten to death in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district on October 21.
Zahid, a 22-year-old Muslim from Dhanj village in Mukundgarh was attacked and abducted on October 21 in a camper van by a group of people. Two hours later, Jamil, Zahid’s father, received a call from the accused asking him to take his son. On reaching the location, the kidnappers pushed Zahid out of the van and fled. Zahid was rushed to Navagarh Hospital immediately.
A week later, due to severe injuries all over his body, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a referred hospital in Jaipur on Sunday night.
Tensions erupted in the village when the body was brought as the family refused to accept it unless the accused were arrested. Taufeeq, Zahid’s brother, filed a complaint on 25 October.
Former minister Rajendra Singh Gudha met the deceased’s family. Expressing solidarity with the family, he said, “The only crime Zahid committed was that he was a Muslim. He was abducted and killed. The accused had the audacity to call the father to pick up his body which was packed in a bag. It is so unjust that the administration didn’t file any complaint even after five days.”
Gouda asserted his stance against injustice and said that he stands with the victim’s family. He said, “The way the postmortem was done in the darkness of the night and forcefully held the funeral shows that the authorities are trying to protect culprits. I will stand with the family and his family must get justice. I will fight for his justice.”
On October 24, a woman who is a sister of the accused alleged that Zahid had entered her house and smacked her. Zahid was tied with a rope in her house, his father was called and in signing an agreement, Zahid was made to go.
Navalgarh DSP Rajvir Singh said that the police are making efforts to find the culprits.
