Milk Offering to Tipu Sultan Triggers Effigy Burning by Sakal Hindu Samaj in Ahilyanagar

Ahilyanagar Tensions Over Tipu Sultan Video

Fresh controversy has allegedly erupted in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar after a video showing a group of men offering tribute to Tipu Sultan went viral on social media, triggering protests in the city.

According to reports, the situation began in the Asha Talkies area, where some Muslim youths allegedly poured milk over a photo of Tipu Sultan as a symbolic ritual offering. The act was described by those present as a gesture of respect. However, the video of the incident quickly spread online, leading to strong reactions from other groups.

Soon after, members of the Sakal Hindu Samaj allegedly burned symbolic effigies of Tipu Sultan and Harshvardhan Sapkal in protest. The effigy burning reportedly followed remarks made by Sapkal, which sparked further anger. The protest was allegedly led by Sangram Jagtap, a leader associated with the Nationalist Congress Party faction linked to Ajit Pawar.

The effigy burning led to counter protests in the city. In response, another group allegedly carried out a milk pouring ritual over a statue of Tipu Sultan as a mark of protest against the burning. Those involved said their action was symbolic and meant to oppose what they called an insult to the historical figure.

Following these incidents, demands were reportedly raised for action in connection with the effigy burning. Authorities are said to be closely monitoring the situation to prevent any escalation, as tensions remain high amid protests and counter protests.
