A 25-year-old Muslim man, Haris, was shot dead by two bike-borne attackers in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh early Friday morning. He was returning home for sehri (pre-dawn meal) after playing a late-night cricket match when he was attacked around 3:15 am.
The attackers shot at him multiple times before he fell. The horrifying attack caught in CCTV shows Haris who was standing with his friend tries to save himself as he sees his attackers approaching him. However, before he could run, one of the attackers shoots at him as he stumbles and falls down as his friend manages to escape in the meantime.
A second attacker also fires at him before another attacker gets off his bike to shoot three times again and escape from the spot. The attackers fired at least half a dozen bullets to make sure Haris didn’t survive the attack.
Police reached the spot when they received information after 3:30 am. An investigation is underway and a case has been registered.
Police have suspected that the attack is a result of personal conflict. However, nothing is officially confirmed yet.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Pathak spoke to the media and said that they are speaking with the family and are conducting a thorough investigation.
