The All India Muslim Development Council (AIMDC) has announced the final list of its “40 Under 40 Leaders,” a program designed to identify and empower the next generation of Muslim leaders in India. The initiative followed a rigorous, year-long selection process described as one of the most comprehensive in recent history.
The program received nearly 950 applications from across the country, covering fields such as education, politics, corporate leadership, engineering, medicine, activism, journalism, law, research, entrepreneurship, economics, Shariah scholarship, counselling, and governance. Candidates went through multiple rounds, including interviews and a four-day in-person evaluation in Bengaluru, where they participated in debates, group discussions, and collaborative tasks. The process assessed not only skills but also commitment to the community, teamwork, and personal discipline.
From this process, 70 leaders were initially selected, and after further evaluation, the final 40 leaders were chosen.
“These leaders represent the intellectual, moral, and strategic strength needed to guide our community and contribute meaningfully to the nation,” said Mohammed Imthiyaz, AIMDC General Secretary.
One selected leader from Maharashtra said, “I came here thinking I would meet other young leaders. I leave knowing I am part of a network, a brotherhood and sisterhood of purpose.” Another finalist from Kerala added, “The process was humbling. It wasn’t just about our CVs — it was about our character, our sincerity, and our ability to work for something bigger than ourselves.”
The final 40 Under 40 Leaders will form AIMDC’s National Executive, while 30 other outstanding candidates will join the National 40u40 Team to support projects and events nationwide.
