In the wake of the attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, the Islamic fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir, under the banner of Mutahida Majlis Ulema (MMU), has called for a complete shutdown tomorrow to mourn the victims and stand in solidarity with their families.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement, expressed his outrage over the killings, quoting a Quranic verse: “Whoever kills an innocent soul, it is as if he had slain mankind entirely” (Al Quran). He condemned the brutal murder of tourists, describing it as a day of carnage in the blood-soaked history of Kashmir.

Mirwaiz added, “Such gruesomeness is abhorred in Islam, which is essentially a religion of peace and goodwill, and against all human ethics.” He extended condolences to the families of the deceased.

In a unified call, MMU urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to peacefully protest against the heinous attack through a shutdown, sending a strong message against violence and terrorism. The shutdown is set to be observed tomorrow, in solidarity with the victims and to demand justice for the lives lost in this assault.
