Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party as “anti-Dalit” and “anti-farmer” during his first rally in Haryana for the upcoming October 5 assembly elections. Speaking in Kurukshetra, Modi urged voters to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a third consecutive term.
Modi accused the Congress of spreading “falsehoods” and failing farmers, stating, “The Congress has made a lot of noise about the minimum support price (MSP), but how many crops do they actually buy at MSP in Karnataka and Telangana?”
He said that under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, over ₹3.25 lakh crore has been deposited in farmers’ accounts, contrasting it with Congress’s alleged neglect.
Addressing recent farmer suicides in Karnataka, Modi said, “In Karnataka, about 1,200 farmers have committed suicide during the short period of Congress rule.” He further accused the Congress of spreading lies and attacking national unity, calling them “urban Naxals.”
Modi also targeted the Congress leadership, particularly the Gandhi family, claiming they intended to end reservations for Dalits and other marginalized groups. “The Congress family is the biggest anti-Dalit, anti-OBC, and anti-tribal entity in the country,” Modi said, adding, “As long as Modi is here, I will not allow even an iota of the reservation given by Babasaheb Ambedkar to be taken away.”
The Prime Minister praised Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for his commitment to development while making no mention of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was notably absent from the rally.
Modi also linked the Congress to recent tensions in Karnataka, where communal clashes during Ganesh Chaturthi led to a ban on assemblies. He criticized the Congress for allegedly obstructing Ganesh worship and referred to their opposition to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Appeasement has become the biggest goal of the Congress. Today, under Congress rule in Karnataka, even Ganapatiji is being put behind bars,” Modi said.
“Congress wants to bring back the era of terrorism and separatism in Kashmir,” Modi claimed, urging the crowd to reject Congress’s policies and support the BJP to safeguard national interests.
