Six officials from the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) and the Jal Nigam were suspended on Friday in response to reports of road cave-ins and waterlogging on the newly constructed Rampath in Ayodhya. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued these instructions.
The suspended officials include Dhruv Aggarwal (executive engineer), Anuj Deshwal (assistant engineer), and Prabhat Pandey (junior engineer) from the Public Works Department. Additionally, Anand Kumar Dubey (executive engineer), Rajendra Kumar Yadav (assistant engineer), and Mohammad Shahid (junior engineer) from the Jal Nigam were also suspended.
According to media reports, multiple road cave-ins occurred at more than 10 locations on the Rampath, which was built before the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in the city.
The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has taken strict action against the PWD department due to negligence in the construction of Ram Path, the road leading to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
On Saturday, as per reports, the Ram Path was encroached upon at 10 various locations around Rickbaganj. Repairs were made by pouring mud and sand, but heavy rains on Wednesday caused the road to collapse again.
According to PWD officials, as cited by local media, a total of 12.50 km of new sewer line has been laid on Rampath, connecting 105 streets in a total length of 13 km.
Additionally, 520 manholes have been constructed along this path. Only 6 manholes, which are twenty feet deep, had potholes due to water seepage from heavy rain at night. These issues were resolved by repairing the leakage and filling it with sand within a span of 6 hours.
Meanwhile, It is important to note that Ram Path was constructed last year, with a commissioned budget of 797 crores, and this was the first rainfall since its completion.
