Raipur Horror: Father Repeatedly Rapes 16-Year-Old Daughter, Forces Two Pregnancies, Newborn Sold for Rs 1.5 Lakh Using Forged Documents

In Raipur, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped repeatedly by her own father, resulting in two pregnancies. Police say the accused later used forged documents to admit the minor to a private hospital as an adult married woman for delivery, after which the newborn baby boy was sold to another family for Rs 1.5 lakh. Eight people have been arrested in connection with the horrific case.

Years of Abuse Began After Parents Separated

According to police, the nightmare began in 2023 after the girl’s mother separated from her husband due to marital disputes. The father, a 38-year-old man, was left with the care of their three daughters. The survivor, the eldest of the three sisters, told investigators that her father first raped her at the house of a relative in the Amlidih area under New Rajendra Nagar police station. He threatened to kill her if she ever revealed the assault to anyone, forcing her into silence.

The abuse did not stop. The teenager became pregnant for the first time. In desperation, she confided in her paternal aunt, her father’s sister, hoping for protection. Instead of helping her, the aunt informed the father. Police said the father brutally assaulted the girl and, with the aunt’s assistance, obtained abortion pills which he forcibly made her consume. The minor subsequently suffered a miscarriage at home.

Second Pregnancy and a Conspiracy of Deceit

Despite the trauma, the sexual abuse allegedly continued. In 2025, the girl became pregnant for the second time. This time, her father took her to the residence of Barkha Verma, also known as Varsha Mandal, a nurse who offered to arrange a safe delivery. The nurse then sent the teenager to the home of another acquaintance, Yogita Rai alias Geeta Rai, who is also a nurse. The minor stayed at Geeta Rai’s residence for approximately two months while the conspiracy to conceal her identity and pregnancy unfolded.

Police said the accused altered the survivor’s Aadhaar card details to show her as an adult and a married woman. With these forged documents, she was admitted to Vasudev Hospital in the Dangania area of Raipur. The teenager delivered a baby boy through a surgical procedure at the private facility.

Newborn Sold for Rs 1.5 Lakh

Following the delivery, the newborn was allegedly sold to another family for Rs 1.5 lakh. Police said the doctor who conducted the delivery, the girl’s father, and several other accused persons were involved in the illegal transaction. The survivor was made to sign certain documents as part of the cover-up. She remained at Geeta Rai’s house for about fifteen days after giving birth before her father finally took her back home.

Escape Through Social Media and Police Action

The young mother eventually managed to contact her estranged mother through social media and narrated the entire ordeal. On Monday, her mother took her to the New Rajendra Nagar police station where a formal complaint was lodged. Police acted swiftly, registering a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions for rape, forgery, criminal intimidation, causing hurt, and acts intended to prevent miscarriage. Stringent sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Juvenile Justice Act have also been invoked.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Robinson Ghuria confirmed the arrests. Among the eight people taken into custody are the survivor’s father and paternal aunt, Rohit Kumar Rai (35), his wife Yogita Rai alias Geeta (32), Saheb Mandal (42), a supervisor at the private hospital, his wife Varsha Mandal (34), the man who allegedly purchased the newborn, and another woman. Police have seized mobile phones belonging to the accused as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to trace the complete chain of individuals involved in what stands as one of the most shocking cases of familial betrayal and child trafficking reported in recent times.
