In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, a viral video showing a 12-year-old boy allegedly shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” during a Muharram procession triggered tension in the Khaikheda area under Hafizganj police station limits. The clip, which surfaced online on Sunday night, quickly spread on social media, with claims that participants in a taziya procession had raised inflammatory slogans.
A complaint was also filed alleging that around 30 people in the procession were involved in raising such slogans.
Police investigation finds conspiracy behind video
After the video went viral, police launched an investigation, examined footage, and recorded statements from local residents. Officials found that the allegations against the Muharram procession participants were not supported by evidence.
Instead, investigators concluded that the child had been made to chant the slogan by a local resident, and the video was then recorded and circulated with the intention of creating communal tension.
Two accused arrested for provoking unrest
Police identified the accused as Yogendra Pal and Bhuvnesh Kumar, both in their 30s. Officials said both men have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, the duo allegedly used the minor to record the provocative clip and later shared it online to disturb peace in the area.
Authorities also confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine who first circulated the video and whether more individuals were involved in the alleged conspiracy.
Police deny claims against procession participants
Senior police officials clarified that no evidence was found to support the claim that Muharram procession participants raised any anti-national or provocative slogans.
Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said the investigation clearly showed that the incident was staged. He added that an FIR has been registered and strict action is being taken against those attempting to spread communal tension.
Minor’s statement to be recorded
Police have stated that the 12-year-old boy’s statement will be recorded according to legal procedure. Officials also said that the case is being treated seriously due to its potential to disturb communal harmony in the region.
