BJP Corporator’s Son Marries Pakistani Woman Online Amid Visa Challenges

Mohammad Abbas Haider, the son of BJP corporator Tahseen Shahid, married Andleep Zahra, a resident of Lahore, through an online “nikah.” The marriage took place amid ongoing political tensions that prevented Haider from obtaining a visa to travel to Pakistan.

The situation became more complicated when Zahra’s mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, fell ill and was admitted to the ICU in Lahore. Faced with these challenges, Shahid opted to conduct the wedding online.

On Friday night, Shahid and his family gathered at an imambara in Uttar Pradesh to participate in the online ceremony, while Zahra’s family joined from Lahore. Shia religious leader Maulana Mahfoozul Hasan Khan explained that in Islam, the woman’s consent is crucial for the “nikah,” which she communicates to the maulana. He confirmed that an online “nikah” is valid when maulanas from both sides conduct the ceremony together.

Haider expressed optimism about the process for his wife’s Indian visa, hoping for a smooth approval. The wedding was attended by BJP MLC Brijesh Singh Prishu and other guests, who congratulated the groom’s family on this unconventional union.
