The BJP in Karnataka has announced a State-wide campaign titled “Our Land, Our Right” in response to “the Waqf Board issuing property notices to farmers and landowners”, a process now halted by the government. The campaign will take place on December 21 and 22 during the winter session of the State legislature in Belagavi.

Addressing the media, BJP leader C.N. Ashwath Narayan revealed that party workers, leaders, and affected farmers will protest in front of Deputy Commissioners’ offices in districts and tahsildars’ offices in taluks. The BJP also plans to raise the issue during the legislature session.

To support the campaign, the party has formed three teams led by BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra and Leaders of the Opposition R. Ashok and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy. Starting in December, these teams will tour the State, gathering information from affected farmers, religious heads, and local institutions.

The BJP has established five-member committees in each district, including farmers and advocates, to document grievances. “The findings will be presented in the State legislature during the winter session,” Narayan said.

The BJP plans to hold a convention in Belagavi focused on the Waqf Board issue before the winter session. Narayan asserted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s assurance of halting the Waqf Board’s actions came only after BJP pressure.

The issue has escalated politically, with the BJP alleging that the Congress-led government has failed to protect farmers’ rights while prioritizing the Waqf Board’s actions.
