A case has been registered against BJP MLA Nitesh Rane for allegedly making inflammatory remarks targeting the minority community during his speech at a Ganpati event in Navi Mumbai, police confirmed on Monday.
The complaint, filed by a policeman, led to the registration of an FIR on Sunday at the NRI police station. According to officials, the incident took place on September 11, when Rane was a chief guest at a seven-day Ganpati celebration in Ulve, Navi Mumbai. The event, organized by Sankalp Gharat, reportedly did not have the required permissions.
In the complaint, it was alleged that Rane’s speech targeted the minority community and incited the crowd. As a result, an FIR has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including sections 302 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), among other relevant charges.
This is not the first time Rane has faced accusations of hate speech. Authorities are now investigating the matter further.
