BJP Worker Accused of Assaulting Dalit Engineer Gets Grand Welcome After Bail in UP

dalit mau

A local BJP worker accused of assaulting a Dalit power department official was given a grand welcome after being released on bail from Mau district jail, with videos of the celebration widely circulating on social media.

The videos show Munna Bahadur Singh being greeted by a large number of supporters as his convoy returned to Ballia after his release on Friday. He was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court.

Singh was arrested in connection with an incident on August 23, when he allegedly attacked Lal Ji Singh, a Dalit Superintending Engineer of the state power corporation, by hitting him with shoes inside his office at the district headquarters. Following the incident, the police registered a case and sent him to jail.

Even before his release, several BJP leaders had openly supported Singh. Former BJP MLA Ram Iqbal Singh wrote on Facebook that Munna Bahadur Singh had gone to the power department to raise issues related to electricity supply affecting several villages and was falsely implicated in the case. He also welcomed the High Court’s decision to grant bail.

Dharmendra Singh, younger brother of Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Transport Dayashankar Singh, also shared a Facebook post saying he was present at the time of Singh’s release. He said BJP workers warmly welcomed Munna Bahadur Singh from Mau to Ballia and wished him well for the future.

Speaking to reporters, Munna Bahadur Singh said the reception showed the affection and support he received from party workers.
