Three police officers have been suspended for alleged negligence after a 15-year-old Dalit boy went missing in a river while trying to escape a police raid in Gursahaiganj, Kannauj district, a senior official said on Monday.

The police were acting on a complaint filed on January 10 regarding the abduction of a minor girl. On Sunday, the team visited the home of Kamlesh Kumar, a resident of Devipurwa village, in search of his elder son, Kishanpal, according to Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar.

When Kishanpal was not found, the police took his younger brother Ramjeet (10) to a nearby farm for questioning. Another son, Dharamveer, who was working in the fields, jumped into the Kali river upon seeing the police, and has since gone missing.

Authorities said the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is actively searching for the teenager.
