Dalit Youth Attacked with Sword in UP’s Amroha After Objecting to Liquor Drinking Outside Home, Chandrashekhar Azad Warns Mass Protest

dalit amroha

A case of caste violence has surfaced in Amroha’s Bachhraun police station area, where a Dalit youth was attacked with a sword after objecting to alcohol consumption outside his home.

The incident took place on 17 August, when Shivam Singh, a resident of Musallepur village, asked a group of men led by Siddhant Devra not to drink outside his house. Enraged, the accused summoned more associates. They thrashed Shivam and his father, before attacking him with a sword that severed a vein in his hand.

Shivam, who works as a scrap dealer with his father, was rushed to a private hospital in Meerut in critical condition. He remained admitted for 15 days, and doctors have now said the damaged vein will no longer function. His family home lies on the roadside, outside the main village habitation.

The assault has sparked outrage after Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad raised the matter on social media platform X. He demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and warned that if swift action is not taken, his party will launch a mass movement against the state government.
