In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun (Suddhowala area), police detained three young Muslim men after reports surfaced that two female students were staying with them in a rented accommodation.
According to local reports, the women are students who came from Haldwani and Chamoli for studies. The three men were also said to be students or young working individuals.
Police reached the location after being informed by members of a local group, Bajrang Dal, who claimed they received “secret information” about the situation.
Police Detain Three Men for Questioning
Police from Premnagar Kotwali station arrived at the spot and took the three men into custody for questioning.
Officials said they are currently investigating the circumstances under which the individuals were staying together and whether any legal violation occurred.
The accused have been identified in reports as Aaqib (Gurugram), Kabir (Moradabad), and another youth from Udham Singh Nagar. Police have not yet confirmed any charges.
Claims of Objectionable Material Under Investigation
Some reports claimed that objectionable material was found in a dustbin inside the room, and that mobile phones of the accused contained photos and videos of women.
However, police have not officially confirmed these claims. Authorities said they are examining electronic devices and other evidence as part of the investigation.
Women Said They Were Living in the Room for Studies
The two women told investigators that they had come to the area for education and were living in shared accommodation with the men.
Police are verifying their statements and also checking the nature of the arrangement and whether any rules were violated.
