Amid properties of the Muslim community targeted under the hate canopy, some Hindutva goons have targeted the Rauza mosque in Silaouri Guaspur of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the local reports, some communal groups intentionally stood by the mosque during the idol-immersion ceremony of the Dussehra festival on October 13 and played Hindutva pop songs in offensive language. They also threw slippers, shoes and colours in the courtyard of the mosque to demean the Muslim community and insult their faith.
In the viral video tons of saffron flags can be seen fluttering high in the sky before the green gate of Rauza Mosque.
“These are the slippers they have thrown inside the mosque,” said a local Muslim resident while showing several dirty slippers and shoes that were flung at the Rauza Mosque.
Some people were dancing to the DJ with a throng of locals cheering behind. Hindutva slogans and communalist slurs can also be heard in the blistering noise that is intended to disturb and demean the minorities.
Complaint Filed, But No Response
Responding to the communal hate in the area, a local villager, Mohammed Rafiq filed a complaint in the SilaouriGuaspur Police Station.
“Today during the procession of idol immersion ceremony, Alok Maurya, S/O Mintu and Abhishek Chouhan, S/O Baidyanath and others who were climbing-up on the vehicle of ‘Verma Sound Service’, attacked the mosque. They threw shoes and slippers and splashed colours at the Mosque,” he said in the complaint.
Rafiq mentioned that beer cans were also thrown at the dome of the Mosque and masses were dancing to the beats of highly offensive songs.
“There are goons who want to destroy the peace and harmony of the area and they are doing this to target a particular community,” he said.
The complaint requested the police department to safeguard peace and harmony against the hooliganism but it has not received any response till now.
Not The First Showcase OF Hate
Barabanki being one of the cities where the Muslim community is doing well, is on the ‘target list’ of hateful communalist throngs and it’s not the first time when a mosque has been targeted in the district.
Around 3 years ago, Garib-Nawaz mosque in the Ram Sanehi Ghat tehsil area was demolished without any court order, but in fact in violation of a high-court order, despite objections of Waqf-board and the Muslim community.
Therefore, describing the attacks at Rauza mosque as a violation of their democratic constitutional rights, Muslim residents of the SilaouriGuaspur are concerned about protecting their religious heritage, freedom and property.
