The Himachal Pradesh Police has filed a first information report (FIR) against Mohan Lal Badoli, the Haryana chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and singer Rocky Mittal, following allegations of gangrape made by a woman from New Delhi. The FIR was filed on December 13 after the woman filed a complaint with the police in Kasauli, Solan district.
Badoli, however, denied the allegations, calling them “baseless.” In a statement to The Indian Express, he said, “There is nothing like that. I have no clue what it is all about. Such FIRs can also be fudged. It could be due to the upcoming elections in Delhi that such fake FIRs are being circulated.”
According to the woman’s complaint, the incident occurred on July 3, 2023, at the Ros Common Hotel in Kasauli, where she was visiting as a tourist with her employer and a friend. She claimed that she met Badoli and Mittal, who introduced themselves as a politician and a singer. The two men reportedly took the woman and her friend to their hotel room, where they promised her a government job and a chance to feature in a music video. They allegedly offered alcohol, which the woman and her friend refused, but were forced to consume by the two men.
The woman alleged that Badoli and Mittal then began harassing her. She claimed that when she objected, they threatened her friend with harm and intimidated her, warning that they would have her killed if she did not comply. She further accused the men of taking turns to rape her while recording the act on camera. The woman stated that the two men also threatened to kill her if she went to the police.
According to the FIR, two months later, Badoli and Mittal allegedly called the woman and her friend to Panchkula, threatening to implicate them in a false criminal case. The woman managed to locate their addresses and phone numbers, leading to the filing of the FIR.
The FIR was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning gangrape and criminal intimidation. Gaurav Singh, the Solan superintendent of police, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with some statements from the suspects already recorded.
Badoli, who became the Haryana BJP chief in July 2024, previously served as an MLA from the Rai constituency and lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Sonipat. Mittal had joined the Congress in August 2024.
