Concerned about the surge in mob violence across the country, the social organisation Janwadi Lekhak Sangh recently held a sit-in at the district collectorate office in Meerut. The group demanded immediate measures to curb the menace and called for stringent action against those responsible.

The organisation submitted a memorandum to the President, urging her urgent intervention to address the issue. “We need strict measures to stop mob violence and ensure the safety of our citizens,” said a representative from Janwadi Lekhak Sangh.

The demonstrators highlighted the recent tragic incident in Hathras district, where chaos at a Satsang gathering led to the loss of hundreds of lives. They called for rescue operations and action against those misleading the public under the guise of religious blessings.

“We demand 20 lakh rupees in compensation and government jobs for the families of those who lost their lives in Hathras,” said a protestor. “This tragedy could have been prevented with proper oversight and accountability.”

The memorandum also addressed the broader issue of mob violence fueled by religious and caste-based hatred. The organisation expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of mob lynching. “The government needs to take firm action to end the spread of religious hatred and create an atmosphere of love and unity in the country,” said one of the protestors. “Only then can we prevent such anti-social incidents from occurring.”

The memorandum was presented to the President through the Meerut district magistrate’s office. The organisation hopes their appeal will prompt immediate and effective measures to address the root causes of mob violence and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
