Hundreds of protesters participated in a rally on Saturday in Himachal Pradesh Hamirpur organized by Devbhumi Sangharsh Samiti demanding the elimination of the Waqf board and verification of the documents of migrants across the state.
The rally was led by Surjit Singh the District President of the Devbhumi Sangharsh Samiti and Ashish Sharma the district chief of Bajrang Dal. The protesters demanded a state-wide protest over the similar demands. Several people who joined the rally waved saffron flags and banners.
Members of Dev Bhoomi Sangharsh Samiti have also submitted a memorandum to the local administration demanding the elimination of the Waqf board and to verify the documents of migrants.
During their address to the rally, the leaders of the organization demanded that the documents must be checked and passed to the Gram Sabha meetings which are supposed to be held on October 2.
Hindu organizations have alleged that there is an unauthorized portion in a mosque in Sanjauli and demanded its demolition. Protests were held on September 11 after the Muslim community requested that the “unauthorized portion” should be sealed and action should be taken according to the court order. Reportedly 10 people were injured during the protests.
The organizers warned the government that instead of aiding the outsiders who do not have documents they should take issues seriously and let Hindus live peacefully.
