An All India Radio program producer from Kerala, KR Indira, has sparked a major controversy after sharing an Islamophobic post on her Facebook page. In the post, Indira urged Hindus to take up arms against Muslims, calling for violent action instead of organizing religious rallies. The post read: “Hindus must learn to take up arms and hack fiercely. It is not enough to learn how to lead a namajapa procession.”
The post was later deleted by Indira, but a screenshot was widely circulated on social media by a Facebook user named Shahul Ambalath, further amplifying the controversy. Despite the provocative and hateful nature of the post, reports indicate that no immediate action has been taken by the Kerala Police, raising concerns over their inaction regarding an open call for violence against Muslims.
KR Indira has a history of making divisive and communal statements. In 2020, she attracted widespread criticism for her remarks about the Muslims of Assam, who were placed in detention camps by the BJP-led government. Indira suggested that contraceptives be mixed with drinking water and given to Muslims to “save the world.” As a result, she was booked under Section 153 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code for promoting enmity between different religious groups.
In light of her recent Islamophobic remarks, several civil society groups, activists, and concerned citizens have demanded that the Kerala authorities take immediate action against Indira.
