A Muslim woman teacher conducting a social and educational survey was allegedly harassed and insulted in Bhimasandra village near Tumakuru, Karnataka. The teacher, identified as Reshma, had been assigned to collect data for a socio-economic and educational census conducted by the Permanent Commission for Backward Classes.
While she was carrying out her duties in the village, several locals reportedly confronted her, questioning why she was visiting Hindu households. According to Vartha Bharati, some villagers demanded that she show her ID card and made derogatory remarks, asking whether she had come “to include them in her community.”
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism and outrage. Many viewers condemned the harassment as an example of growing religious intolerance.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, and officials said appropriate action would be taken against those responsible.
