Authorities in Kashmir have announced that restrictions will be imposed across all districts on Monday following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The move comes after widespread protests erupted across the valley on Sunday in response to the news of Khamenei’s killing in US-Israel airstrikes.

Senior security officials told local news outlets that the decision was taken as a precaution to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents amid the current situation. “It has been decided to impose restrictions as a precautionary measure,” a senior official said.

Authorities have strengthened security arrangements in sensitive areas across the valley and said the situation will be closely monitored throughout the day. The restrictions aim to ensure a peaceful atmosphere following protests in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Bandipora, and other districts, where Shia-majority areas had seen large but largely peaceful marches and demonstrations in solidarity with Iran.

The administration has urged residents to cooperate with authorities and maintain calm.
