A Kashmiri woman, Sadia Javed, has accused Sandeep Rathi, the village head of Pundri Kala in Bijnor district, of repeatedly raping her over a period of ten days. The alleged incidents took place about four months ago while she was reportedly kept at Rathi’s home during a police search following her love marriage to a local youth.
Sadia told City News UP that despite filing a complaint, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered even after one and a half months. She said, “I married a youth from Bijnor. He was a minor at the time, and the police took him away. I was kept at Pradhan Sandeep Rathi’s home, and he raped me for around ten days. I ran away and sought help from my in-laws and siblings, but even then, filing an FIR was impossible. Eventually, I returned to Kashmir, but my in-laws are not supporting me now.”
Her advocate, Sonu Malik, who practices at the Allahabad High Court, told Daily News UP, “Sadia had run away with Mohd Kaif from Kashmir. Both were minors when they got married. Her family lodged a complaint against Kaif, who is now in jail. Kaif’s uncle tried to hide her in Sandeep Rathi’s house. The girl says Rathi raped her and allegedly planned to sell her in Dubai. Later, Rathi handed her over to the Jammu and Kashmir police. She has now returned and, as an adult, is trying to file complaints against him.”
Malik also added that attempts are being made to intimidate her. “I am her advocate, and complaints are now being filed against me as well. The complainants claim I am trying to remarry her to Mohd Kaif, even though she is already married. This is an attempt to implicate me,” she said.
As of now, officials have not registered any FIR or provided updates on action against Sandeep Rathi. Sadia’s family and legal representatives continue to press for a formal investigation into the allegations.
