A meat shop operating near a temple and a mosque close to the Paith Ground in Khair, Uttar Pradesh, has been closed following a complaint by members of the Muslim community.
Residents said the shop was near Baba Bali Mosque, where Muslims regularly pray, and opposite the Satyanarayan Temple, which devotees visit daily. The complainants alleged that the shop’s location was causing inconvenience to people visiting both places of worship.
They also claimed that a legal dispute over the land on which the shop was operating was pending in court. The complainants expressed concern that the shop’s continued operation on the disputed property could lead to law and order problems and affect communal harmony.
They approached Khair Police and senior police officials, seeking action.
Circle Officer Abhishek Patel confirmed that the shop had been closed after the complaint was received. He said legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace and order.
