Vacation Trip Turns Tragic
A 24-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district was allegedly beaten to death after being dragged out of a train following a dispute over a seat, according to claims made by his friends.
The deceased, identified as Ali Khan, was travelling with his friends — Jayant Verma, Shivam Malviya, and Yash — while heading on vacation by train. Ali reportedly worked in Nagpur and had boarded the train with his friends for the trip.
Seat Dispute Allegedly Led to Tension
According to people close to the victim, the incident began after a man allegedly tried to forcefully occupy Ali’s train seat.
Friends of the deceased claimed the man introduced himself as a leader associated with a right-wing group and allegedly tried to intimidate Ali during the argument.
The disagreement reportedly did not turn violent at the time due to the intervention of Ali’s friends, who managed to calm the situation.
‘Dragged Out and Beaten’ at Midnight
However, the situation allegedly escalated later in the night.
According to the account shared by Ali’s friends, when the train stopped at Bordehi railway station in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district around midnight, a group of men allegedly chanting religious slogans dragged Ali out of the train and brutally assaulted him.
The friends alleged that the mob beat Ali to death on the railway platform.
Fearing for their own safety, his companions reportedly moved to another coach to escape the attackers. They later informed the police about the incident.
Police Begin Investigation
Police officials said an investigation has been launched into the matter.
Speaking on the case, Government Railway Police (GRP) Station House Officer Pramod Patil said authorities are registering a First Information Report (FIR) and collecting evidence.
“We are registering the FIR, collecting CCTV footage, evidence and eyewitness statements to identify and arrest the accused,” Patil said.
