Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address on the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, launched a pointed attack on the Congress party, accusing it of undermining the rights of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). He claimed that while in power, the Congress turned these communities into “second-class citizens” and consistently failed to implement key provisions of the Constitution, including the Uniform Civil Code, which Ambedkar had envisioned as a unifying legal framework for all citizens.

Modi criticized Congress for not fulfilling its promises to the SCs, STs, and OBCs, highlighting issues such as inadequate access to basic amenities like water, sanitation, and financial services during their tenure. He pointed to his government’s achievements, including the provision of tap water to over 12 crore rural households and the construction of 11 crore toilets, as evidence of his commitment to social justice.

The PM further accused the Congress of disrespecting Ambedkar’s legacy during his lifetime, pointing to their opposition to his political ambitions and their efforts to erase his contributions after his death.

On the topic of governance, Modi praised his administration’s focus on improving connectivity and expanding infrastructure, especially in rural areas. He cited the example of new airports and increasing flight services, which he claimed were making air travel accessible to a larger section of society, fulfilling his promise of enabling common people to fly.

In addition, Modi slammed the Congress for its “vote bank politics,” accusing it of using laws like the Waqf law to gain political leverage and not addressing the real needs of the Muslim community. He questioned the party’s sincerity, suggesting that if they truly cared about Muslims, they should appoint a Muslim as their president.

Throughout his speech, Modi reiterated that the government’s policies, especially those aimed at empowering the poor, tribals, and women, were in line with the vision set forth by Dr. Ambedkar. He also assured the people of Haryana that his government would continue prioritizing their welfare and aspirations, underscoring the BJP’s commitment to Ambedkar’s principles of equality and social justice.
