BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya from Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district suggested that students should consider opening motorcycle puncture repair shops rather than pursuing educational degrees. He made this statement during an event inaugurating a PM College of Excellence in the district.

Shakya stated, “Nothing is going to be achieved with these college degrees. Instead, open a motorcycle puncture repair shop to at least earn a livelihood.”

His comments come amidst the inauguration of similar colleges in 55 districts by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shakya also commented on a recent tree plantation drive in Indore, remarking that while trees were planted, there was little interest in watering them.

Responding to criticism, Shakya told The Indian Express that his statements were taken out of context.

This is not the first time Shakya has sparked controversy with his remarks. Previously, he criticized cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma for marrying outside India, and in another instance, suggested that women should remain childless rather than giving birth to children who do not contribute positively to society.
