A district court in Patna has granted interim relief to popular educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, by staying his arrest in a case linked to an alleged firing incident outside his coaching institute earlier this month.
The court’s decision came during a hearing on Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea in connection with an FIR filed after violence and vandalism at the Khan Global Studies Institute on June 2.
The court allowed investigators to continue questioning Khan Sir but directed that no coercive action, including arrest, be taken against him while interim protection remains in force.
Case Linked to Violence at Coaching Institute
The controversy began after a violent clash outside Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna’s Kadamkuan area. According to police, a group of around 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the coaching centre, tore down posters and pelted stones at the premises.
CCTV footage of the incident later surfaced on social media, showing chaos outside the institute and security guards allegedly firing shots into the air.

Police detained two guards employed at the coaching centre, who were later taken into custody. During questioning, investigators alleged that the guards admitted to firing two rounds each from licensed rifles and claimed they acted on Khan Sir’s instructions. Based on these statements, police registered an FIR against Khan Sir and two others under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
Khan Sir Denies Involvement
Khan Sir has denied any involvement in the alleged firing. His lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, argued before the court that the FIR was part of a conspiracy to damage the educator’s reputation.
“The guards may have acted in self-defence after the institute was attacked. There is no evidence directly linking Khan Sir to the firing,” Mahuar reportedly told the court.
The lawyer also maintained that Khan Sir had no role in orchestrating the incident and sought protection from arrest while the investigation continues.
Rival Coaching Centres at Centre of Dispute
Police believe the violence may have been linked to an ongoing rivalry between Khan Global Studies and another coaching institute. Following complaints from Khan Sir’s institute, police arrested the director of a rival coaching centre and several associates.
However, the case took a new turn after videos allegedly showing firing by security personnel surfaced online.
Khan Sir had earlier accused people associated with a rival institute of being behind the vandalism attack. At the same time, supporters of the rival coaching institute accused Khan Sir of staging the incident, escalating tensions further.
Rival Institute Supporters Demand Action
In a parallel development, supporters of Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu Coaching, staged protests and candlelight marches in Patna demanding his release and alleging bias in the investigation.
Some supporters warned of larger protests if Khan Sir is not arrested.
Meanwhile, the court has reserved its order on the anticipatory bail plea of Roshan Anand.

Fire Safety Notice Adds to Controversy
The legal controversy surrounding Khan Sir deepened after Bihar’s fire services department reportedly issued a notice to his coaching institute over alleged fire safety violations.
As investigations continue, police are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and witness statements to determine the sequence of events surrounding the June 2 violence.
Further hearings in the case are expected in the coming days.
