PM Modi Says India “Will Never Bow to Terror” on Anniversary of Pahalgam Attack

PM Modi remembers 26 victims of 2025 Pahalgam attack, says India will never bow to terrorism.

On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the 26 people killed in the attack and expressed solidarity with their families.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the nation continues to remember the victims with grief and resolve.

“Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten,” he said. “My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss.”

He added, “As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed.”

Attack That Shocked the Nation

The April 22, 2025 attack in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, saw gunmen open fire on tourists, killing 26 people, including a local pony operator. The incident sparked nationwide outrage and tightened security across Jammu and Kashmir.

A memorial has since been built in Pahalgam with the names of all victims engraved in black marble.

India’s Military Response

In response to the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting “terror infrastructure” in Pakistan.

Officials said the strikes destroyed multiple camps linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and other outfits.

The operation was followed by heightened military readiness and diplomatic tensions before a ceasefire was reached.

Army and Defence Minister Reaffirm Strong Stand

The Indian Army also issued a strong message on the anniversary, saying, “When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. India stands united.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India’s response to terrorism has become “firm and decisive,” adding that the country will never forget the victims.

He said, “Any attempt to harm India or disrupt its unity will be met with strength and clarity.”

Security and Tributes Across Jammu and Kashmir

Authorities have stepped up security in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Pahalgam, with additional deployments and surveillance ahead of commemorations.

The Lieutenant Governor and other leaders are expected to attend memorial events along with families of victims and civil society members.

‘India Stands United in Grief’

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also paid tribute, saying the victims “will forever be remembered” and that India stands with their families in their grief.
