Three people were arrested by local authorities following a police encounter in the Partapur area of Meerut on Sunday. The suspects were allegedly transporting a cow for slaughter, an activity prohibited in Uttar Pradesh.

Superintendent of Police (City) Piyush Kumar Singh stated, “During a routine check, our team stopped a vehicle carrying a cow. The occupants of the vehicle opened fire on the police team.”

He said, “In retaliatory firing, Zishan and Shadab, who were traveling in the vehicle, suffered bullet injuries in the leg. They were arrested and taken to the hospital. Kamruddin, the third suspect who was driving the vehicle, was also arrested.”

The police maintained that the suspects violated the law by attempting to slaughter the cow. Uttar Pradesh has strict regulations against such activities, as confirmed by the police registering a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The injured suspects, Zishan and Shadab, are currently receiving medical treatment for their gunshot wounds.
