The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a stay on the implementation of the Allahabad High Court’s order calling for a court-monitored survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque located adjacent to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura.

The decision comes as the apex court awaits a response from the Hindu outfit Bhagwan ShriKrishna Virajman and other concerned parties following a plea filed by the mosque committee opposing the High Court’s directive for the survey.

The Supreme Court’s intervention halts the progress of the survey pending a thorough examination of the legal implications and considerations surrounding this contentious matter. The court has allowed the ongoing proceedings before the Allahabad High Court to continue, particularly in matters related to the dispute over the proposed relocation of the mosque.

The Shahi Idgah mosque has been a focal point of dispute, situated close to the revered Krishna Janmabhoomi temple.

This development marks a crucial juncture in the legal battle, with both religious groups asserting their claims over the sacred site.
