The attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday has claimed the lives of 28 people, with several others injured. This tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation not only across India but also internationally.
In a statement on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban-led government of Afghanistan condemned the attack. Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi expressed sympathy to the families of the victims, stating, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the IEA condemns the attack on tourists in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir and expresses sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in this incident. Such acts threaten the security and stability of the region.”
The attack has drawn strong reactions from leaders around the world. US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin both expressed solidarity with India, condemning the violence. Foreign offices from Pakistan, China, Germany, the UAE, and Sri Lanka also extended their condolences.
The Muslim World League also issued a statement condemning the attack, describing it as “ghastly” and offering heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.
Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag on Wednesday to meet the injured victims of the attack. He had also visited the site of the incident earlier in the day.
The attack, which targeted tourists in the popular Pahalgam area, continues to shake the region as people demand justice for the lives lost in this brutal incident.
