Aliya Begum, 15, died after being attacked while protecting her father, Mohammed Ismail, from a mob in Antharam village, Zaheerabad, Telangana. The incident occurred on February 11, and she succumbed to her injuries on February 15.
Witnesses told media the attack began when Mohammed Ismail was urinating near the house of Veera Reddy and Vijay Reddy, who, along with around 40 others, attacked him. Aliya rushed to save her father but was hit with stones.
“This is not just an attack on one family but on the entire community. We will not rest until justice is served,” said AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, who visited the grieving family.
Amjadullah Khan Khalid from the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) demanded, “We need a judicial inquiry by a High Court judge, arrests of all accused, Rs. 25 lakh compensation for the family, a government job, and a house under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.”
The All India Milli Council’s legal team, including Adv. Afsar Jahan, said, “We will not let the culprits escape. We have advised the family to stand firm and not accept any compensation that undermines their legal rights.”

Police have registered a case against the Reddy brothers and other suspects. However, locals remain skeptical. “We have lived peacefully for years. Why did this happen?” asked a local elder.
Social media activist Saba Khan expressed on X, “Aliya Begum (15) was hit with stones while protecting her father from a mob led by Veera and Vijay Reddy. She was preparing for her board exams. May Allah grant her Jannah and strength to her parents.”
Community leaders warn that failure to deliver justice could deepen communal tensions. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” said a member of the All India Milli Council. Aliya’s death has become a symbol of the fight for justice against targeted violence.
