TMC Workers Using BJP Flags to Incite Unrest in Bengal, Alleges Saffron Party

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the Trinamool Congress of trying to trigger post-election violence in West Bengal by allegedly disguising its workers as BJP supporters.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that TMC workers were using BJP flags and scarves to create unrest and malign the party.

“We are seeing reports that TMC workers, in several places, are wearing BJP scarves and carrying BJP flags while attempting arson and disturbing the atmosphere,” Patra said.

He insisted that BJP workers have not engaged in violence after electoral victories and said the party has maintained this record across states where it is in power.

Claims of Peaceful Elections

Patra described the recently concluded Assembly elections as “historic” in terms of maintaining peace, highlighting that there were no major reports of loss of life or large-scale destruction during polling.

“This was the first election where no innocent person was killed and no houses were burnt,” he said, adding that despite high voter turnout, the process remained largely peaceful.

Modi’s Appeal Against Revenge Politics

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patra said the BJP leadership has clearly instructed its workers to avoid retaliation and focus on development.

“Modi has urged everyone to move forward on the path of development and not revenge,” he said, adding that the Centre would not allow violence under any circumstances.

State BJP Warns Against ‘Infiltration’

The BJP’s West Bengal unit also issued a statement saying individuals involved in violence or unlawful activities would not be allowed to join the party to escape accountability.

Party spokesperson Debjit Sarkar said, “No criminal or anti-social element will be allowed to enter the BJP under any circumstances. The law will take its own course.”

Attack on Mamata Banerjee Over Refusal to Resign

Patra also criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for reportedly saying she would not resign after the election results.

“It is astonishing. Has such stubbornness ever been seen in Indian democracy?” he said, calling her stance an “insult to democracy” and the Constitution.
