Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for always standing by the national cricket team, whether in moments of victory or defeat.

Siraj, now a regular in India’s bowling attack, recalled how PM Modi’s visit to the dressing room after the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad helped lift the team’s spirits. India had lost the title clash to Australia, who claimed their sixth World Cup crown.

“In 2023, after our World Cup loss, Modi ji came to the dressing room and lifted our spirits with his words. A year later, when we won the T20 World Cup, he called to congratulate us. He stood by us in defeat and in victory — true inspiration,” Siraj said in a video post on X under the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign.

Former India batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth also shared his experience of meeting the Prime Minister. “Met Modi ji in 2011 WC. I broke protocol; he broke the ice with a hug. We have met over the years on different occasions, and I have come to admire the person he is. At 75, still humble, building the nation and serving tirelessly for us,” he wrote on X.

The campaign comes as the country prepares to celebrate PM Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17, with stories emerging from people across fields about the Prime Minister’s personal influence.
