‘Two Bovine Smugglers Killed in Accident After Fleeing Police Checkpoint, No Firing,’ Say Jammu and Kashmir Police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday issued a statement refuting reports circulating on social media that claimed bovine smugglers were killed in a firing incident. According to the police, these reports were completely baseless and not factual.

In an official statement, the police spokesperson said that no firing incident had taken place. According to the police, a group of bovine smugglers in a speeding car broke through the police checkpoint at Naka Nud, critically injuring a police official in the process. The smugglers then fled the scene.

The police said that after driving several hundred meters away from the checkpoint, the smugglers lost control of their vehicle and fell into a gorge, resulting in the death of ‘two smugglers’ on the spot. One other ‘smuggler’ was injured.One bovine was also found dead at the site.

The police further stated that further details regarding the incident are awaited.
