Two women officials in Uttar Pradesh have “dedicated” their official chairs to Lord Ram, aiming to administer in his name and bring about “Ram Rajya” (an ideal governance inspired by Lord Ram’s principles). Seema Devi, who heads the Gadwara Nagar panchayat, and Shesha Devi, the Sadar block head, say they were elected with Lord Ram’s blessings and are fulfilling promises they made to him, according to their supporters.
After her election victory in 2023, Seema Devi placed a statue of Lord Ram on her chair and held the first official meeting under “his” chairmanship. Sachin Singh Sholu, a representative of Seema Devi, said, “She had it in her mind even before the election that if she won, she would run the administration by installing Lord Ram on her chair.”
In addition to this symbolic move, a statue of Lord Ram was installed at Shri Ram Square in Gadwara, along with a statue of Ram Lalla in a local Shiva temple, on January 22, the day Ayodhya hosted a consecration ceremony for the Ram temple.
Seema Devi, who now sits beside Lord Ram’s chair in her office, aims to carry out her duties inspired by the vision of “Ram Rajya,” as she believes this will bring fair and just governance.
Similarly, Shesha Devi, the Sadar block head, dedicated her official chair to Lord Ram following her election win. Her son, Goldy, stated, “She won the election with his blessings and decided that her chair will be dedicated to Lord Shri Ram. She pledged to do this if she won, and she has fulfilled that promise.”
