The Congress launched an attack on the BJP following an alleged sex scandal involving the grandson of JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda. Party leader Priyanka Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the matter.
The opposition party raised concerns about the BJP’s alliance with the JD(S) despite a BJP leader’s letter to the Karnataka unit president, revealing the existence of a pen drive containing “sleaze videos of Prajwal Revanna”, as reported by PTI.
A case of sexual harassment and stalking was registered against former prime minister Deve Gowda’s son H D Revanna and his grandson Prajwal Revanna, Hassan MP, based on a complaint by their cook. The complaint alleged that Revanna sexually harassed her, and Prajwal engaged in “vulgar conversations” with her daughter via video calls.
In a Hindi post on X, Priyanka Gandhi said “The leader with whom the PM gets photographed by placing his hand on his shoulder. The leader for whom the PM himself campaigned 10 days ago. Praised him on stage. Today, that leader of Karnataka is absconding from the country.”
“Just hearing about his heinous crimes committed is heart-wrenching. This ruined the lives of hundreds of women. Modi ji, will you still remain silent?” the Congress general secretary said.
Pawan Khera, head of Congress’ media and publicity department, shared a letter by BJP leader Devaraj Gowda to the Karnataka BJP president, disclosing the existence of the incriminating pen drive. Khera questioned why the BJP proceeded with the alliance despite this information and criticized Modi’s association with Prajwal Revanna.
“Why did the BJP still go ahead with the alliance? Why no action was taken on the serial rapes video recorded and kept in the pen-drive? Why did the PM campaign for and shared the stage with Prajwal Revanna despite knowing that Prajwal is the kingpin of world’s biggest & murkiest sex abuse?” Khera said.
The complainant, who claims to be a relative of Revanna’s wife, expressed fear for her life and the safety of her family members.
