The Dawoodi Bohra Roshan Khayal Jamaat of Malegaon has released a public statement to clarify that it has no connection with the Bohra group seen meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently. The meeting was widely circulated on social media and caused confusion among people.

“We want to make it very clear that we are a completely separate and independent group. We have no relation with the group that met the Prime Minister,” said Aasim Akhtar, secretary of the Roshan Khayal Jamaat.

Speaking about the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, the Jamaat said they oppose the new changes made by the government.

“We are already part of the Waqf Board. The new amendments in the bill are not needed and some points are harmful,” said Akhtar.

He also said that some people misunderstood the Bohra community’s stance due to the PM’s meeting. “People thought all Bohras supported the bill and Modi ji, but that is not true. We don’t follow the same religious leadership as them,” he explained.

He added that the Roshan Khayal Jamaat is small in number but believes in independent thinking. “We have around 500 people in Malegaon. We don’t follow the Syedna. Our centers are in Pune, Nasik, Malegaon and Udaipur.”

The Jamaat is also part of local protests against the Waqf Bill along with other Muslim groups. “We are working with other community leaders and organizations. We want the government to remove the harmful parts of the bill,” Akhtar said.

The Jamaat plans to continue creating awareness and said their protest is peaceful and based on legal concerns. “We are not against reform, but it must be fair and protect community rights,” he added.
