Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the prominent religious leader of Kashmir, has strongly condemned the attack on tourists in Pahalgam, describing it as “completely unacceptable” and a “stark contradiction” to the region’s long-standing tradition of hospitality.

In his statement, the Mirwaiz said, “Kashmir has always embraced visitors with love and warmth, and such brutality has no place here.” He condemned the violence in the strongest terms and offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families during this difficult time,” he added.

The Mirwaiz also expressed his hopes for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack, wishing them strength in their recovery. He highlighted the tragic contrast between this brutal act and the peaceful, welcoming spirit that has always defined Kashmir as a haven for tourists.

This condemnation comes amid a growing outcry over the attack, which has left 27 dead and several others critically injured, shaking the region and raising concerns over the safety of tourists in Kashmir.
