A 14-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by three youths, including a minor, while she was going to school, in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened on Friday morning when the Class X student was walking to school. A 15-year-old boy, sitting in a car, met her and convinced her to join him, promising to drop her at school. However, instead of taking her to school, he drove her around. Later, two more accused—Pradeep (18) and Saurabh (18)—joined them. They took her to a room, tied her up, and raped her, police said.

“The girl regained consciousness after about an hour and found the accused had fled. She then called for help,” an officer said. The victim first told her aunt about the assault, who then informed the family.

Based on the mother’s complaint, police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (including gang rape and assault), the POCSO Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Two accused were arrested, while the minor was sent to a juvenile home. “The arrested accused have been sent to 14-day judicial custody,” said Additional SP Akhand Pratap Singh.

Police found that one of the accused had messaged the girl on Instagram a day before the crime. “He asked to meet her, but she refused,” an officer said.
