Musa Kaleem, a young boy from South Village, Guwahati, has etched his name in Assam’s history by becoming the state topper in the highly competitive National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2025. Outshining over 42,000 aspirants from Assam, Musa secured an impressive 99.97 percentile, symbolizing not only academic brilliance but also the untapped potential of Muslim youth across the country.

Out of more than 20 lakh students who appeared nationally, 12.36 lakh cleared the exam. While the top rank nationally went to Mahesh Keshwani from Rajasthan, Musa’s achievement brought immense pride to Assam and its Muslim community.

Born in Sri Bhumi, Assam, Musa’s family later settled in Guwahati’s South Village. His father, Anwar Hussain, who once worked as an engineer, now runs a small cosmetic shop, while his mother, Rehana Begum, is a homemaker. Coming from a modest background, Musa’s success highlights the power of determination and parental support.

Speaking to Salam TV, Musa credited his parents for their encouragement. “I am very happy. I give all the credit to my parents. Their support never stopped. They stood by me in every moment.”

Musa prepared diligently at the Allen Coaching Institute in Guwahati. His teachers recall his quiet focus and disciplined study routine, qualities that helped him avoid distractions and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.

At a time when Muslim youth face social biases and economic hurdles, Musa’s accomplishment shines as a beacon of hope. He told reporters, “My dream is to serve the country. I don’t just want to become a doctor. I want to become someone who helps the poor and stands with those who have no support.”

His father, Anwar Hussain, expressed pride mixed with emotion. “I never asked him to run after money. I always told him to become a good human being first. Only then will you become a good doctor.”

The community response has been overwhelmingly positive. Local mosques and social media platforms overflowed with congratulations. Maulana Naseeruddin, a prominent Islamic scholar in Guwahati, said, “This boy has shown what true Islam teaches us — to seek knowledge and to serve mankind. May Allah bless him and make him a source of pride for the community.”

Assam’s education minister also praised Musa, calling him an inspiration for students across all communities. While no government award has yet been announced, many believe Musa deserves special recognition and support.

Educational expert Dr. Sameera Ahmad called Musa’s success part of a “quiet revolution” among Muslim families, who continue to prioritize education despite challenges.

“This is courage, not just sacrifice,” she said.

Musa plans to join a top medical college and hopes to serve underserved rural areas.

“A real doctor should always be available for the needy,” he said, reflecting maturity and compassion rare for his age.

Musa Kaleem’s journey is more than just topping an exam; it is a testament to dreams, resilience, and values. His story challenges stereotypes and calls on society to support and celebrate the achievements of Muslim students.

As Musa embarks on his medical career, he carries the hopes of many—parents who never gave up, teachers who believed, and a community yearning for respect and progress.

In his own words, “Success will come and go, but being a good human being is forever.”
