Goshamahal MLA and controversial Hindutva figure T Raja Singh resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday after being overlooked for the post of the party’s Telangana unit chief.

The decision came after reports suggested that BJP’s central leadership had chosen N Ramchander Rao to head the state unit. In a resignation letter shared on social media, Singh expressed deep dissatisfaction, calling the move “a shock and disappointment” to himself and to “lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters.”

While stepping away from the party, Singh declared that he remained “fully committed to the ideology of Hindutva” and the service of his Goshamahal constituency.

Singh alleged that “some individuals, driven by personal interests, have misled the central leadership” and warned that BJP’s hopes of forming its first government in Telangana were now being undermined by poor leadership choices.

The MLA also criticized the sidelining of grassroots leaders, saying, “There are many capable senior leaders, MLAs and MPs within our state who have tirelessly worked for the growth of the BJP.”

T Raja Singh has frequently courted controversy for his Islamophobic speeches. He was banned from Facebook and Instagram in 2020 under Meta’s “dangerous individuals and organizations” policy and suspended by the BJP in 2023 after making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad.

Despite his resignation, Singh reiterated his allegiance to Hindutva and his constituency: “While I may be stepping away from the party, I remain fully committed to the ideology.”
