Residents of Safapora in Ganderbal district held angry protests on Monday after a 28-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and murdered by a relative. Family members and local community members blocked roads, demanding justice for the victim.

According to protesters, the woman was abducted before being killed.

“We won’t stay silent until the killer gets strict punishment,” said Suhail Ahmad, a local community leader. “The police must act quickly to deliver justice to the family.”

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Poswal visited the protest site and assured action. “We have registered a case and detained the main suspect,” he told reporters.

“Our investigation is ongoing, and we will ensure the guilty face the law.”

The incident has raised concerns about women’s safety in the region, where reports suggest thousands of girls go missing each year. Police officials said forensic teams and investigators are working on the case to gather evidence.

Authorities have urged people to remain calm while the investigation continues. Further updates are expected as more details emerge.
