Thanos Appears on Voter ID in Malegaon, Sparking Meme Frenzy and Electoral Concerns

In a bizarre twist in Malegaon, Maharashtra, a voter ID featuring the image of Thanos, the fictional villain from Marvel Comics, has gone viral, sparking laughter, memes, and renewed concerns over voter list errors. The ID card reportedly displayed a mismatched name, incorrect age, and an incomplete address, raising questions about how such an unusual photo ended up in the official electoral rolls.

Former Malegaon MLA Asif Shaikh Rashid alleged that over 6,000 voters in his constituency were registered without addresses, 3,502 ID cards had tampered photos, and 11,298 duplicate votes had been recorded.

Social media quickly seized on the story, with users joking about Thanos joining the electoral process. “Forget Avengers… In Bihar elections, even Thanos stands in line with Aadhaar and voter ID. What a downgrade, Mad Titan!” wrote one user on X.

Another added, “Congratulations, Thanos has now appeared in the voter list of Malegaon Assembly. There is a strong possibility of their other characters emerging in Bihar. Stay tuned in this game of vote theft.”

The incident comes amid heated allegations of voter list manipulation. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “New voter unlocked for BJP,” and has repeatedly claimed discrepancies in the electoral rolls, including duplicate entries, invalid addresses, and bulk registrations. The Congress has alleged voter data manipulation in 48 Lok Sabha seats and launched a series of ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ campaigns in Bihar to raise awareness.

The Election Commission, however, dismissed these claims, asking for formal affidavits or apologies. BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, mocked the Congress campaign, calling it a “ghuspathiya bachao yatra” or “save the infiltrators rally.”
