Seven Muslim Men Beaten While Transporting Cattle in Maharashtra’s Jalna District

Jalna Muslim beaten

Seven Muslim men, including a 62-year-old, were brutally assaulted with wooden logs by a mob while transporting cattle in Maharashtra’s Jalna district. The attack took place on Monday, October 6, while the victims were taking 21 bulls to Latur. A police case was filed the following day.

The injured have been identified as Nisar Patel, Asif Shaikh, Riyaz Qureshi, Sajid Pasha, Asif Sadiq, Javed Qureshi, and Sayyed Parvez. According to the complaint lodged by Nisar Patel, the men had legally purchased the cattle from the Wadod Bazaar in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district and were transporting them for agricultural purposes.

As their two vehicles neared Londewadi village in Jalna tehsil, they were stopped and attacked by around 20 unidentified assailants. “We showed them all the documents proving that the bulls were meant for farming, but they accused us of cow slaughter and began beating us mercilessly,” Patel said.

He further alleged that the attackers continued to assault them even after the police arrived. “How can police mention ‘unidentified persons’ when we were attacked right in front of them?” Patel told Maktoob Media, adding that officers initially refused to register the complaint and detained the victims for nearly 12 hours before filing a report.

Police, however, have denied Patel’s version, calling the incident an “internal party dispute.” A senior officer said, “We are investigating the matter.”
